Spuren römischer Beackerung in West- und Mitteleuropa Traces of Roman farming in Western and Central Europe: Kadeltshofen-Herrenzeichen, Bayerisch Schwaben Zurück Back
In dem Waldstück "Herrenzeichen" links des Flüsschens Roth sind parallele langschmale Parzellen römischen Typs in schwacher Ausprägung zu erkennen, die ca. 550 x 75 m messen. Nach Nordosten sind sie durch das Fragment eines antiken Weges begrenzt. Ein Teil der Parzellengrenzwälle wird von Wölbbeeten mittelalterlichen Typs überlagert. Südlich, nur knapp außerhalb der Grafik, ist eine Villa Rustica am gegenüberliegenden Rothufer nördlich von Kadeltshofen belegt. Zu ihr mögen auch die unklaren Parzellierungsspuren im Nordosten der Grafik gehören. In the ‘Herrenzeichen’ wooded area to the left of the Roth river, faint traces of parallel, narrow Roman-style plots measuring approx. 550 x 75 m can be seen. To the northeast, they are bordered by the remains of an ancient road. Part of the parcel boundary walls is overlaid by medieval-type ridge-and-furrow beds. To the south, just outside the graphic, there is evidence of a villa rustica on the opposite bank of the Roth north of Kadeltshofen. The unclear traces of parcelling in the northeast of the graphic may also belong to it.
