Spuren römischer Beackerung in West- und Mitteleuropa Traces of Roman farming in Western and Central Europe: Wolfgantzen-Kastenwald, Elsass / Alsace Zurück Back
Der Kastenwald bei Wolfgantzen in der elsässischen Oberrheinebene wird von Parzellierungen römischen Typs durchzogen. Ihre Ausprägung und Größen sind unterschiedlich. Besonders gut ausgeprägt und teils ungewöhnlich kleinteilig sind Partien nordwestlich der Bildmitte. Im Südosten quert eine römische Straße mit begleitenden Materialentnahmegruben die Grafik von SW nach NE, weitere ost-westlich orientierte Straßenfragmente finden sich am Nordrand. Vereinzelte Grabhügel sowie eine Hügelgruppe, aber keine in den Laserdaten erkennbare Siedlungsstelle. The Kastenwald forest near Wolfgantzen in the Upper Rhine Plain in Alsace is interspersed with Roman-style parcelling. These vary in shape and size. The areas northwest of the centre of the image are particularly well pronounced and, in some cases, unusually small. In the southeast, a Roman road with accompanying material extraction pits crosses the graphic from southwest to northeast, and further east-west oriented road fragments can be found on the northern edge. There are isolated burial mounds and a group of hills, but no settlement sites recognisable in the laser data.
